The Campus Visit Is Still the Moment of Truth: How to Create Experiences Students Actually Feel

Thursday, July 30, 2PM ET

For years, campus visits have been treated as a standard part of the admissions process: an information session, a walking tour, a few student stories, and a hopeful sendoff.

But today’s students arrive on campus differently.

They have already researched programs, watched videos, compared costs, explored websites, scrolled social feeds, and formed early impressions before they ever check in. By the time they visit, they are not just looking for information. They are looking for fit, feeling, confidence, and proof that the experience is worth the investment.

That creates both a challenge and an opportunity for enrollment teams.

In this webinar, Jonathan Clues of StudentBridge and Jeff Kallay of Echo Delta will explore how institutions can rethink the campus visit for a more digital, skeptical, and experience-driven generation of students and families.

Together, they will unpack why many campus tours still miss the mark, how digital engagement can strengthen the in-person visit, and what institutions can do to make the visit feel more authentic, emotional, and student-centered.

This conversation will move beyond “how to give a better tour” and focus on the full visitor experience: what students see before they arrive, what they feel while they are on campus, and what happens after they leave.

Key Themes

The visit is no longer the first impression

Students are making judgments long before they step on campus. Colleges need to understand how websites, videos, virtual tours, social content, and pre-visit communication shape expectations before the in-person experience begins.

Students want more than information

Much of the factual information students need is already available online. The visit has to do something different. It needs to help students answer deeper questions about belonging, lifestyle, community, safety, support, and fit.

Too many tours are still institution-centered

Many campus visits are built around what colleges want to show, not what students and families need to experience. This session will explore how to shift the visit from a scripted building tour to a more meaningful student-centered journey.

Digital should support the human experience

Digital engagement does not replace the campus visit. It can make the visit stronger by personalizing the experience, showing spaces the tour cannot reach, adding depth to student stories, and helping families stay connected before and after they visit.

The basics still matter

Parking, wayfinding, signage, restrooms, arrival flow, check-in, and hospitality all shape how families feel before the tour even begins. A stronger visit experience starts by seeing the day through the eyes of the visitor.

What Attendees Will Learn

By attending this webinar, participants will learn how to:

  • Evaluate whether their current campus visit is built around institutional priorities or student needs
  • Identify the moments where students and families are most likely to feel friction, confusion, or disconnection
  • Use digital content to strengthen, not replace, the in-person visit experience
  • Make housing, food, wellness, community, and student life more visible in the visit journey
  • Create more emotional resonance through storytelling, student voices, and authentic moments
  • Improve the pre-visit and post-visit experience so the visit becomes part of a connected enrollment journey
  • Audit the basics of the visitor experience, including registration, arrival, wayfinding, and hospitality
