Carthage College Virtual Campus Experience Wins Prestigious Davey Award

New York, NY, December 7, 2016 – The winners of The 2016 Davey Awards have been announced by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts today with Carthage College receiving a Silver Award for Best Website and Virtual Campus Experience. With nearly 4,000 entries from across the US and around the world, the Davey Awards honors the finest creative work from the best small agencies, firms, and companies worldwide and is judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), a 700+ member organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.
Carthage College’s Virtual Campus Experience was produced by StudentBridge, a digital marketing agency specializing in educational recruitment and retention solutions. The site won based on its unique design elements, high-end production values and personalization, giving prospective students an insider view of what it’s truly like to be on campus and helping them to answer the question “Will I Fit In?” as opposed to simply, “Will I Get In?” According to StudentBridge Founder and Vice-Chairman, Jonathan Clues, this question is what students need to answer when making the costly decision about what college or university to attend. “Students who feel they fit in are students who stay,” says Clues, whose company accurately portrays a school’s culture and feel, as opposed to just showcasing the buildings. As a result, StudentBridge Virtual Campus Experiences are narrowing the graduation gap at hundreds of colleges and universities nationwide.
The strategy has proven to be a most effective one for Carthage College, who partnered with StudentBridge to raise the bar on their recruiting efforts. "We are thrilled to receive a Davey Award for the Virtual Carthage Campus Experience," said Elizabeth Young, Executive Director for Marketing and Communications at Carthage College. "We initiated this project after opening a new $43 million science center and wanted to create a new interactive campus map that would show off our top facilities as well as introduce prospective students and families to our beautiful campus. StudentBridge not only helped us achieve that goal by creating a remarkable map of our campus, but through this tool, we are able to introduce prospective families to our academics, dedicated faculty, undergraduate research opportunities, and so much more. Prospective students can now hear from other students what it's really like to attend Carthage, from the close relationships they form with their professors, to what they love most about being a Carthage student."
Students and faculty have also been extremely responsive to the new Virtual Campus Experience, according to the admissions team. "Students love it,” said Ashley Hanson, Associate Vice President of Admissions at Carthage College. “The majority of our students are from outside the state of Wisconsin, and the Virtual Carthage Campus Experience gives them a live visit experience from farther away. It enhances their visit experience before they even set foot on campus."
AIVA members include executives from organizations such as Condé Nast, Disney, GE, Keller Crescent, Microsoft, Monster.com, MTV, Push., Publicis, Sesame Workshops, The Marketing Store, Worktank and Yahoo! and many more. “On behalf of the Davey Awards and our Academy, we want to applaud this year’s entrants and winners for their dedication and commitment to their craft,” noted Linda Day, Executive Director of the Davey Awards. “The winners in this year’s competition truly reflect the notion of small agencies executing big ideas.
